Goodbye Nematodes! Heat-Treating Southern Pine LumberReading
Lumber is an important product from trees. When two countries export goods to one another, international policies may exist to prevent the spread of destructive organisms that live in the lumber. For this reason, the scientists in this study studied heat-treating techniques to kill the pinewood nematodes in the lumber. In our earliest articles, like this one, the articles begin with a Discovery section, which is a related activity (now called a FACTivity), and conclude with a Results section. Topics: Engineering and Forest Products, Exporting, Heat Treating, Lumber, Nematodes, Southern Pine, Timber Production.
