Over the past 40 years, Federal and State governments have provided financial incentives to private forest landowners. In this article, scientists wanted to know what kind of impact these programs are having on private forest landowners in the South. Specifically, they wanted to know whether the programs are meeting the goal of keeping southern forests healthy into the future.
